I had a bit of a moment yesterday when I realised that there’s only 12 days left till Christmas! I don’t feel like I’ve had nearly enough time to enjoy all my Christmas crafts! It’s clear that I need to get motivated, and what better way to do that than by sharing an awesome Christmas craft or recipe with you every day for the next 12 days? That’s right folks, fasten your seat belts, because this is going to be a daily blog from now until Christmas Eve!
So, without further ado…
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
A super-cute Jingle Bell Garland
I love a nice Christmas garland, and this one was very easy and fun – you could knock it out in a few hours in front of a Christmas movie, no problem.
The bells are simple MDF shapes that I got from Kaisercraft in a pack of 6. I imagine you can get something similar at most craft shops around this time of year, OR you can make your own out of cardboard. I would like to try that next year with reindeer I think…
I picked out some pretty Christmas scrapbook paper (also from Kaisercraft), and glued the bells to the back side of the paper using a thin, even layer of PVA. Once it was dry, I cut the shapes out.
Using some glitter glue (I can’t even describe how much I love that stuff), I added some embellishments to the paper to jazz up my bells and make them sparkle.
In order to make my bells into a garland, I used some Christmas string from Kikki K (I have about 10 packs of the stuff, love it to bits), and superglued it to the back of the bells. I had to use plenty of glue because the MDF is relatively heavy.
To finish off, I tied some thumb tacks to each end of the string. Sometimes I’m literally amazed at how totally high-tech I am (ha ha).
I love the simple look of this garland, and it hangs perfectly in our lounge room window. Unfortunately it is a bit hard to get a nice photo of it there, but I’ve put in my best attempt.
While you’re here, feel free to check out some of my other Christmas crafts:
This is so good, simple and different. Thank you💃
Love this (and that’s coming from a bit of a grinch!). It adds so much to the room but without being overbearing. Can’t wait to see what you do for the other days of Christmas!
A fabulous idea. A simple clean looking very pretty garland.
Thanks Lucie :)! I just went and checked out your Christmas tree garland – looks amazing! Mine was a lot simpler haha. Thanks for stopping by! x
He he he, Christmas craft begins! Lovely and simple and effective. So many things you can do and so many options. Beautiful!
