Swedish Christmas Table Runner

Merry Christmas Eve eve! I’m about to fall into a Christmas coma from all the crafting and planning I have been doing today. BUT, I finished my second last project, and I am so pleased with it! I hope you like it too. :)

On the 11th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me….

A Swedish Christmas Table Runner

Table Runner 1
This is the first year we will be hosting Christmas at our house, and a few weeks ago I realised that I didn’t have a tablecloth! So off to Target I went, where I got two bed sheets (red and white) for $11 each.

With the red sheet, I made a basic tablecloth. The general rule is that your tablecloth should exceed the length and width of your table by a foot on each side.

Using the white sheet, I sewed a simple table runner. I love the elegance of Swedish Christmas design, so I decided on a Swedish pattern that I’ve seen round and about. I made a template out of cardboard, and drew the shape outlines in red pen before painting them on.

I think the design lends a very simple yet eye catching look to the table, and I’m so pleased with it. It was definitely worth the many hours I spent painting!

Anyway, this very tired crafter is now off to bed for (hopefully) a very restful night’s sleep before another busy day tomorrow! See you then!

Where do you find the time! The great thing is this like everything you make can be re-used next year and the year after and forever look amazing! Very nice touch and i love the Christmas tree center piece ;)
