D.I.Y. Natural Wood Portrait Frames

March always seems to be a month of low blogging motivation for me! Case in point? I finished these frames almost two weeks ago, and even though I’ve been so excited to share them with you, I just keep putting it off. They look so good hanging in the house though, I get a happy feeling every time I see them. :)

After our engagement in September last year, we got some really beautiful engagement photos, taken by our friend Alan Moyle. However, we haven’t been able to find any frames for the portraits that we (a) love, and (b) can afford.

I was sitting in a cafe about a month ago (having brunch, of course) when I saw a poster framed with reclaimed wood. It looked so simple, yet so good, and my immediate thought was…. I can do that!

On Victim Blaming in the Media

As those of you who live in Melbourne have most likely heard (and those of you in the rest of the world may not have), a 17 year old school girl, Masa Vukotic, was murdered on Tuesday night at around 6.50pm in her local park. It was still light out. Masa was in her final year of high school, and it has been reported that she enjoyed taking walks in the evening to relax.

I get that. I’ve been there. In highschool, I was out in my neighbourhood almost every night, either walking with my mum, or friends, or (fairly often) alone. If I was alone, I wore headphones. Why? Because I was obsessed with music, as many teenagers are, and because it’s fairly boring to walk alone in silence. Plus, it helps you relax.

And you know what? There is nothing wrong with that. Let me repeat: there is nothing wrong with a young woman walking ALONE wearing headphones.

Storage Solution: Hanging Shoe Rack

Story time!!!

Once upon a time, there was a shoe rack. It was the worst shoe rack that had ever existed, because it’s stupid wire design meant that high heeled shoes couldn’t sit on it without falling through and becoming hopelessly entangled. And it looked bad. And it took up a lot of useful room.

So one day, the shoe rack was taken apart, repurposed, and used to fulfil a valuable role in society as…. a shoe rack! Oh, wait…

Book Club – February 2015

Don’t be mad at me – I didn’t make my reading target this month! I am still going on The Fictional Woman by Tara Moss (and really enjoying it by the way), but it will have to wait until next month to be reviewed. I blame February – this stupid short month is very deceptive, and I personally feel like it’s out to get me. Maybe.

I did manage to get through some good books though, and here they are:
