D.I.Y. Macramé Jar Holders

DIY Macrame jar holders

Trends are a funny thing – just when you think a particular style or decor is gone for good, it swings around again to be the new hottest thing. I was super skeptical about the resurgence of macrame that I’ve been seeing around lately (70s decor has never been my thing!), but as you can see, I’ve now jumped on the bandwagon. I actually love the combination of the macrame style and the natural look of jute twine. It reminds me of fishing nets and boats and sailors on old-timey ships, which is actually interesting because macrame was popular among sailors in times of yore.

Anyway, to celebrate my change of heart, I thought I’d share a very easy D.I.Y. project with you – a simple macrame jar holder. I saw these at the market last weekend selling for a few dollars each, so this could be your road to riches – you’re welcome! ;)

3 days until Christmas! We’re at the pointy end now! Mario and I managed to knock out the last few presents we wanted to buy today, so I’m feeling pretty on top of things – how about you?

Today’s project is, without a doubt, my favourite Christmas project I’ve done. I’ve been working on it for a few weeks now, and it feels wonderful to be finished!

Super Scrappy Stockings

http://icandotht.com/2014/12/15/super-scrappy-stockings/

It’s the third day of Christmas, and I had a work Christmas party this afternoon. Definitely feeling full of the Christmas spirit right now! Champagne and chocolate = Christmas spirit, right?

Luckily, today’s project is one that I prepared earlier. I have a firm rule about not sewing under the influence, both for my sake and my sewing machine’s.  Her name is Nina – Nina the Bernina – and I love her too much to ruin her by backstitching my fingers. Anyway, let’s get back to the purpose at hand: Continue reading

Jingle Bell Rock

Jingle Bell RockI had a bit of a moment yesterday when I realised that there’s only 12 days left till Christmas! I don’t feel like I’ve had nearly enough time to enjoy all my Christmas crafts! It’s clear that I need to get motivated, and what better way to do that than by sharing an awesome Christmas craft or recipe with you every day for the next 12 days? That’s right folks, fasten your seat belts, because this is going to be a daily blog from now until Christmas Eve! Continue reading

Totally Trendy Crochet Bunting (Part 2)

Bunting2 frontLast week I showed you the crochet bunting I whipped up for Mario and my engagement party (although I plan to use it for many more things in future!). Today, I wanted to show you how I finished off the bunting with crochet letters!

I wanted to spell out our names along the bunting, but never having made crochet letters before, I wasn’t sure if it would be beyond my skill level. Luckily, I found an awesome (and free) set of instructions for the whole alphabet over at Moogly. Continue reading
