DIY Art Deco Display Ladder

Art deco ladder image

You guys, I have been feeling so inspired these last few weeks. Lately it seems like ideas just burst into my head, fully formed, and compel me to make them now.  It’s been really fun!

This project is one I have been wanting to make for aaages. As I’m sure you have figured out, I quite like copper (see how I can play it cool?). I also love hanging things on ladders – my best friend has an antique one which she hangs her scarves on that I lurrrrrve + want to steal.

D.I.Y. Natural Wood Portrait Frames

March always seems to be a month of low blogging motivation for me! Case in point? I finished these frames almost two weeks ago, and even though I’ve been so excited to share them with you, I just keep putting it off. They look so good hanging in the house though, I get a happy feeling every time I see them. :)

Frame

After our engagement in September last year, we got some really beautiful engagement photos, taken by our friend Alan Moyle. However, we haven’t been able to find any frames for the portraits that we (a) love, and (b) can afford.

I was sitting in a cafe about a month ago (having brunch, of course) when I saw a poster framed with reclaimed wood. It looked so simple, yet so good, and my immediate thought was…. I can do that! Continue reading

Cooking with Walter White

Don’t worry – this post isn’t about how my #icandeclutter challenge has led me to a life of drugs (yet). No, the challenge grinds on, days after it should have ended, because I have realised that it takes a lot longer to sort and pack mountains of junk than I expected. Or maybe I just accumulated more junk that I expected. Either way, the first three loads have left the house, and there are only about 40 to go! I will update you all (hopefully soon) when the challenge is finito.

In the meantime, I wanted to share this piece that I stitched up last week.

Totally Trendy Crochet Bunting (Part 1)

Bunting FrontThe idea for this project appeared fully formed in my brain, as if by magic. One moment I was thinking ‘Is that salami still good?’*, and the next, ‘Well of course, why wouldn’t I make crochet bunting for my engagement party with only a week and a half to spare?’.

(*This isn’t what I was really thinking, but just FYI, I find that salami is almost always still good…) Continue reading

Monogram Frame

http://icandotht.com/2014/11/10/monogram-frame/

Sorry I’ve been MIA for the last 10 days, I’ve been super busy! Why, you ask? Well, in fact, we had our engagement party last weekend! So, of course, I had to (yes, had to) do lots of craft projects to prepare!

I’m a bit proud of the project I’m sharing with you today. I came up with it all by myself (i.e., no pinspiration)! I bought the chevron fabric ages and ages ago online, thinking that I might make a cushion out of it. It wasn’t as thick as I had anticipated, however, and it wouldn’t really have worked. I’m pretty excited that I finally got to use it. Continue reading

Pretty in Polaroid – September Short Projects

pretty in polaroidThis project is all about photos, and their best friend, Photoshop. Polaroid and Instagram-style photos are all the rage at the moment, with some stores (I’m looking at you, Kikki K) offering to print your pictures in this style for an exorbitant price – I’ve seen places quoting $10 for 10 photos. I used to work in a photo printing centre, so I knew I could do better than that. Continue reading
