Tidy Tea Towels

On the whole, I love the way our kitchen is laid out. We have so many cupboards and drawers, there’s heaps of storage room.

However.

I have the tendency to let a well organised cupboard descend into madness if I don’t have a good storage solution in place. Case in point? Here is a photo of the handy cupboard that lives right next to our oven. Those are clean, washed tea towels in there, living like rats. The shame

Amazing Antipasti

Amazing AntipastiHappy Friday everyone! In honour of the weekend, I thought I would do a post about food, because Fat Friday.

This should come as a surprise to no one, but I love food. Love. The experience of eating good food is one of the things that I live for. It also brings me a huge amount of joy to cook for my friends and share a meal together – dinner parties are literally my favourite social activity.

A formal dinner party is a lot of work, and, more often than not, quite expensive. One of the tricks I have mastered is to pick a menu that can be 90% completed before the guests arrive, both to cut down on stress and, let’s face it, so that there’s time to clean up the huge mess you’ve made of the kitchen,  thereby keeping up that  Martha Stewart/Nigella Lawson/Domestic Goddess facade you’ve got going on. D.I.Y. Rustic Copper Kitchen Rod

Kitchen Rod Front1

You guys, I love this project. It ticks so many of my boxes – cheap, easy, minimalist and copper.

Is copper really so important, I hear you wonder? Well, yes. It’s just so warm and inviting and glow-y.  It makes your kitchen look like delicious and healthy things are made there. Basically copper is just a celebration of life. (too far?)

Anyway, I’ve been looking for ways to bring more copper into my kitchen, and to declutter/minimalise (is that a word?) at the same time. As has been the constant mantra in our house for the past few weeks, less is more.

#icandeclutter: The Last Day

This post is soooo long overdue, I’m sorry!! I have been donating things left, right and centre, and it has taken a hell of a lot longer that I expected!

The pantry was the last area that I chose to declutter for my #icandeclutter challenge. The ‘before’ photos are actually from a long time before – maybe about a year after we moved in. The current state of the pantry has been much closer to the ‘after’ photos for a long time, but it definitely needed a refresh.

Vanilla and Rose Sugar ScrubI promised you another home-made winter warmer, and here it is: vanilla and rose sugar scrub!

This hand and body scrub is so easy to make, and it does wonders for your skin, especially in winter. It only needs a couple of ingredients, can be whipped up in a few minutes, and also makes a fantastic gift – although you should make sure to keep some for yourself too! Continue reading
