Puppy Love – September Short Projects

puppy loveHappy first day of spring everyone! Well, except for all you northerners :). Here in Melbourne, the plants are growing, the blossoms are blossoming, the weather is getting warmer, and I have some awesome September Short Projects lined up!

Today I wanted to share with you this super cute little puppy friend that I made. He comes with a sweet story.

Last year, one of the ladies that I work with sadly lost her mother. When my colleague was going through her mother’s possessions, she found a great stash of wool and yarn. Knowing that I love to knit, she so kindly passed her mum’s collection on to me.

I wanted to make something for her with the wool that she had given me, but for the longest time, I couldn’t decide on what to make. Then came some exciting news – my colleague’s daughter was expecting!

I saw this gorgeous crochet pattern by K4TT on Ravelry, and thought this sweet puppy would make a good present for a brand-new baby boy.

The pattern was soooo easy and straightforward, it only took a few days to finish the whole pup. It only used basic crochet stitches, and came together really well. Unfortunately, I loved him so much that I was reluctant to give him to my colleague! But he finally went to his new home today. :)

Hopefully he will make a great best friend for the new bub – I love the idea that his puppy friend is made from yarn that belonged to his great-grandmother!

What a lovely story!!! You are so thoughtful to ensure that the next generation has something special that came from the last generation. I am sure your colleague will be very touched. He does look sooo cute. Great job!!!
