Part of our travels last year took us through central Italy, and we were lucky enough to stop in Florence – Firenze – for a couple of days. Both Mario and I had been to Florence before, but we were still pretty excited to visit again. I’m not going to lie, this time we went pretty light on the artistic and historical aspects of the city (of which there are many!), instead choosing to focus on, well, food. And wine. My dearest, most loyal and lovely blog readers, I am so sorry that I have somewhat abandoned you over the last month. I have had a very full plate – work has been more intense than ever, wedding planning has had top billing, and there have been one or two personal dramas as icing on the cake! But never to fear, we’ve come out the other side now, and I couldn’t be more ready to share all the things I’ve been up to lately! Just a warning, things might be a little wedding-centric around here for the next few months! I hope you don’t mind. :)
As a way of saying thank you for sticking with me even though I’ve been a bit AWOL, I thought I would share some of the engagement photos that we had has taken by the wonderfully talented Alan Moyle almost a year ago now. Alan took the photos at a gorgeous heritage shopping village that is just a few minutes walk from our house, Maling Rd, as well as in the nearby Canterbury Gardens. It was really special because not only do we go there every weekend for breakfast or a coffee, Mario also had my engagement ring made there by Peter at Individual Jewellery, as well as our wedding rings.
You may recognise a couple of the photos as ones that I put in my home-made wooden frames a few months ago, and also from the home tour that I did for Emory of Hello, Scarlet Blog.

March always seems to be a month of low blogging motivation for me! Case in point? I finished these frames almost two weeks ago, and even though I’ve been so excited to share them with you, I just keep putting it off. They look so good hanging in the house though, I get a happy feeling every time I see them. :)
After our engagement in September last year, we got some really beautiful engagement photos, taken by our friend Alan Moyle. However, we haven’t been able to find any frames for the portraits that we (a) love, and (b) can afford.
I was sitting in a cafe about a month ago (having brunch, of course) when I saw a poster framed with reclaimed wood. It looked so simple, yet so good, and my immediate thought was…. I can do that! Continue reading
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about repotting my passionfruit vine. You may remember that I put it in a paint tin (it’s still there, actually) that had been filled with jellybeans. As a result, we had a slight jellybean surplus in our house, so we decided to get creative with the beans.
For the mini-beans, we cleaned up some recycled jars and sorted them by colour. Then we practised our photography skills on the pretty colours (these photos are by Mario). Continue reading
